The University of North Georgia powered $768 million into the state’s economy in FY 2024 – a 3.1% jump from FY 2023.
Lumpkin, Hall, Dawson, Forsyth, White, Oconee, Clarke, Barrow, Madison, Jackson, Gwinnett, Fannin, Gilmer, and Union counties benefited the most, according to a report issued Tuesday by the University System of Georgia (USG).
USG, in turn, had a $23.1 billion impact on the economy of the state, up 5.4% from FY 2023.
The system’s total economic impact of $23.1 billion includes $15.2 billion in initial spending by students and by USG’s 26 institutions on personnel and operating expenses. The remaining $7.9 billion is the multiplier impact of those funds in a local community.
