HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Jack Ernest Smith, 38, of Toccoa, was arrested this week on a felony warrant for impersonating an officer in Hall County last September.
Mr. Smith initially was charged in Hall County the afternoon of Sept. 19, 2024, after he called Hall County 911 claiming to be an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He provided a badge number and told the dispatcher he needed law enforcement backup at an address in the 4900 block of Forest Drive in northwestern Hall County. A Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy arrived at the scene. Mr. Smith identified himself again as a DEA agent. The deputy contacted DEA and verified that Mr. Smith was not an agent or an employee of the agency.
EMS personnel at the scene transported Mr. Smith to the hospital for treatment of chest pains. The HCSO deputy obtained the warrant for impersonation of an officer.”
