*A 31-year-old woman says she lost more than $10,000 in an online swindle earlier this month. It happened Aug. 1, according to Gainesville Police. “Victim found a job online, (but) in order to get the job, the subject had to pay money upfront via bitcoin, subject out $10,000,” spokesman Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email. The victim reported that the total amount of her loss was $10,160.
*Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators are investigating an early Tuesday morning criminal damage incident at the Joint Smoke Shop on Winder Highway. Deputies responded to an alarm and found the front door broken with glass on the ground. Currently, there is no indication that the suspect or suspects entered the business after breaking the glass.
