Highlights from the City of Gainesville’s Fiscal Year 2025 accomplishments:
*From July-December of Fiscal Year 2025, WeGo
and Gainesville Trolley services welcomed 49,344
riders and traveled 260,510 miles.
*The Gainesville Administration Building main
entrance (south end), plus portions of Roosevelt
Square, have been upgraded to include
beautification, improved disability accessibility,
additional seating, etc.
*Main Street Gainesville saw record
attendance at First Friday, Blue Sky
concerts; Trick or Treat on the Square;
Jingle Mingle; and Christmas on Green
Street.
*Parks & Recreation registered a $10.6
million economic impact, up from $10.2 million
in FY 2023, with more than 1 million parks
and facilities visitors, 100,000-plus recreation
participants and 2,639 players in youth sports.
*The Gainesville Fire Department (GFD),
in partnership with the Gainesville Police
Department, broke ground in April 2025 on the
City of Gainesville’s new Public Safety Training
Complex.
*The Gainesville Police Department (GPD)
recorded 81,556 calls for service and 81,556 calls for service, and saw a 53% reduction in
drug overdoses and a 64% reduction in
overdose-related deaths.
*The Department of Water Resources is rebuilding and modernizing the water treatment and wastewater
treatment plants, especially new primary clarifiers at the Flat Creek Water Reclamation
Facility and additional filters at the Lakeside Water Treatment Plant.
