*Protesters gathered in downtown Atlanta Saturday for the national “Rage Against the Regime” demonstrations, marching from The King Center to the ICE Atlanta Field Office.  Demonstrators chanted “No Fear. No Hate. No ICE in our state.” Oranazers say that the event aimed to raise awareness about deportation practices affecting individuals with no criminal record or pending asylum applications, with a focus on the case of Rodney Taylor, a well-known Atlanta barber detained by ICE since January. 11 Alive reports that the protest, organized by 50501GA, emphasized non-violent resistance to immigration enforcement and federal policies, with the Atlanta event remaining peaceful.

*The State Election Board is investigating Fulton County’s recount process from the 2020 election, despite previous investigations finding no fraud. Joe Biden won Georgia by about eleven thousand votes over Donald Trump.

*Echo Park Speedway in Hampton is proposing to build a resort complex that includes a casino. Ed Clark, with the speedway, says the development would feature a destination resort, convention center, amusement park, and casino, but would first require a constitutional amendment. Proponents emphasize the potential benefits of the casino, while opponents, like Mike Griffin of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, raise concerns about the negative impacts of gambling, such as an increase in crime, bankruptcies, and addiction. WSB-TV reports the proposal is in its early stages and would need legislative approval, a statewide voter referendum, and approval by individual county voters before becoming a reality.
