And the heat goes on…

Hazardous heat will continue in Georgia over the next couple of days with a heat index of 110 possible in Gainesville and elsewhere in north Georgia Tuesday.

Peak heat indices each afternoon, the weather service says, will exceed 100 degrees. Heat Advisories and Extreme Heat Warnings have been issued for all of the state.

The air temperature reached 98 at the Gainesville airport about 5:00 Monday afternoon, the highest recorded there since the heat wave began. At the same time the heat index was 104.
