Seven people were rescued from the fast-moving waters of the Chattahoochee River earlier this week, according to this HELEN POLICE DEPARTMENT FACEBOOK POST:
“…crews were called to Escowee Drive after a group of seven became stranded in the middle of the river.
Heavy rain earlier in the day had caused water levels to rise quickly, making conditions dangerous.
Firefighters arrived to find the group high-sided on rocks, surrounded by fast-moving water.
With help from the Helen Police Department and White County EMS, they moved fast, deploying water and rope rescue equipment and safely pulling all seven people from the river without injury.”
