“If you ever wonder why ๐—š๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ฎโ€™๐˜€ ๐— ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ข๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐˜„ was written, Hall County Sheriffโ€™s Office deputies recently experienced the fallout of a driver who didnโ€™t follow it.

Early Sunday morning, July 13, two deputies in a marked patrol vehicle were at the scene of a vehicle breakdown on the southbound side of Interstate 985 near Exit 24. Deputies had the patrol vehicleโ€™s emergency lights and directional arrows activated, directing drivers approaching from the rear to move left.

Despite minimal traffic (approximately 12:10 a.m.) and the active emergency equipment on the patrol car, the driver of a southbound pickup truck failed to move over and side-swiped the deputiesโ€™ vehicle. Fortunately, the deputy in the driverโ€™s seat was wearing his seatbelt and suffered only a minor injury. He returned to full duty after being checked out at the hospital. The occupants of the truck and the second deputy were not injured.
