Former Flowery Branch baseball player Kaleb Freeman was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the major league baseball amateur draft Monday. Freeman was the 466th player chosen in the draft. He started his college career with the University of North Georgia. He transferred to a junior college in Florida, and then transferred to Auburn, and this past season played for Georgia State. In 56 games with the Panthers, he batted .349, with 16 home runs, and 46 runs batted in. He was named the Sun Belt Conference newcomer of the year, and second team all-Sun Belt Conference team. After the season, he entered the transfer portal and committed to play for the University of Texas. According to his dad, he plans on signing with the White Sox.
