Overnight: Flash Flood Warning, 2+ inches of rain

While National Weather Service (NWS) equipment at the airport didn’t record a drop of measurable rain during the night Friday, that was not true of other parts of Hall County and a couple of adjacent counties

The NWS issued this Flash Flood Warning late Friday night (it expired at 4:00 a.m. Saturday), for parts of Hall, White and Lumpkin counties:

“The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for… Northeastern Hall County in north central Georgia… Northeastern Lumpkin County in north central Georgia… Southwestern White County in northeastern Georgia… * Until 415 AM EDT. * At 1016 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour.”

So, what now? More possible heavy rain along with triple-digit heat index temps, according to the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook:

DAY ONE…Today and Tonight…

Scattered to isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. A few storms
could be strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and locally
heavy rainfall which could lead to ponding on roadways and even
some localized flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Sunday through Friday…

Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected this
weekend and early next week, though overall storm coverage should
decrease.

The heat will build some early next week, with afternoon feels
like temperatures reaching the 100-108 degree range Sunday,
Monday and Tuesday.”
