FORSYTH CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (FCSO) FACEBOOK POST:

“This is the follow up from Tuesday’s chase.

We received a call from the GBI about a vehicle that was possibly heading into our jurisdiction. The registered owner of the car has an active warrant for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Around 2:30pm the car was spotted on Buford Dam Road near Sanders Road. Deputies attempted to pull the car over near Marketplace Blvd., but the driver refused to stop and fled…

The pursuit (ended in a curve) on Bald Ridge Acres Drive and Canon Place. Everyone bailed from the car and the foot chase began. The juvenile in the delinquency case surrendered immediately to deputies. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Madison Moore of Flowery Branch, was apprehended a short time later. The two males that fled from the back seats ran into the woods…

K9 units, drone team and several deputies were out looking for the two men. Hence the social media post about heavy police presence in the area. We searched for a while but decided to call the search off because of the heat, we did not want to take a chance our K9 teams would get overheated. We then released the best part of the crime fighting machine……our citizens! We posted photos of the two men on social media.

Around 7:20pm, we received information from a citizen that the men matching the descriptions of the two suspects were seen walking along Pilgrim Mill Road on the GA400 overpass. The two took off into the woods when deputies attempted to apprehend them (but were soon in custody). The men were identified as 17-year-old Curtis Ashburn of Columbus and 24-year-old Christopher Chance of Jasper.

Both men were charged with two counts of Obstruction of Law Enforcement. Madison Moore was charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Driving on a Suspended License. She also had a warrant out of Pickens County. The juvenile was taken to the RYDC.”
