A police report was filed by a Forsyth County private school after the school’s sign was “‘altered without authorization'”, according to Forsyth County News.
The marquee at Milton Montessori School at Kelly Mill contained a quote which read “Education is the Best Weapon for Peace.”
On the night of June 8th, School Director Nathalie Holt noticed that the word “weapon” had been removed from the sign and that the letters were laying beneath it. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office report, “‘Nathalie [the school director] stated that someone under the Facebook name “Banks Lia” posted that she took the word “weapon” off Milton Montessori School`s sign. According to the post, the poster states that there is no reason to have the word “weapon” anywhere near schools or children. Nathalie stated that she has screenshots of Facebook posts regarding the removing of the sign. Nathalie stated that their security cameras did not capture the incident; and no theft or damage occurred. Nathalie stated that she wanted a Criminal Trespass Warning given to “Banks Lia” to not come onto the property.'”
A portion of the Facebook post reads as follows, as written in the Forsyth County News article: “‘So I did a thing… This sign I pass by everyday and it’s a daycare or something. Anyway it used to have the word “weapon” in the lower spot where it’s blank now (and you can see where I’ve removed the letters from the sign and left them at the bottom part)'”
Shannon Carrizal, a deputy with FCSO said that he did not have a chance to speak with Lisa Brewer, the individual believed to be associated with the “Banks Lia” account, and was “’not 100%’ that ‘she was the one who altered the business sign.'”
It was confirmed on June 11th that “’the case [had] been inactivated.'”
