First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Hall County were down in August, according to the state Labor Department.
Applications decreased 28% compared to July and 19% compared to last August. Statewide, claims were also down – 20% and six percent, respectively.
In addition, they were down in the 13-county Georgia Mountains region, which includes Hall and most of the rest of northeast Georgia. There were 16% fewer compared to a month ago and 13% fewer than a year ago.
