Nearly 75% of Ga. now drought-free

Almost three-quarters of Georgia is drought-free as of Thursday, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM), but three pockets of drought remain – one of them in northeast Georgia including part of Hall County. That statewide figure compares to 46 percent of the state which was free of drought just a week ago.

In our area, the dry weather continues its hold on northern Hall County, and all or parts of Lumpkin, White, Habersham, Gilmer, Fannin, Union, Towns, Rabun, and Stephens.

Drought conditions can also be found in parts of east central and southeast Georgia.
