‘We do not have anything new…’

Late Friday afternoon, nearly 24 hours after it happened, Gainesville Police said there’s nothing new right now to release on the shooting that occurred Thursday night that left one personal critically wounded.

“We do not have anything new at this time,” spokesman Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email. Not the victim’s name, age, hometown, or any information on a possible motive and suspects.

The gunman remained at large.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Jesse Jewell Parkway and Downey Boulevard near the hospital.

It was the second such incident in a public place, at a busy intersection, in Gainesville in less than a month. The earlier one resulted in the death of one man. EARLIER STORY. POSTED FEB. 11:  Arrest made in Athens St. murder of man, wounding of woman
