The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on this week’s arrest of a man wanted in Lumpkin in connection with the shooting of another, including a video of the chase leading up to his apprehension.
PICKENS CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:
“On March 4, 2025, Pickens County Deputies apprehended William Crawford after a high-speed pursuit that began when deputies located him as the subject of a BOLO from Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office in connection to an Aggravated Assault case.
When deputies attempted to stop Crawford, he fled at high speeds up Hwy 136 towards Dawson County, driving recklessly and endangering others on the road. Due to the immediate danger he posed, deputies executed a PIT maneuver, successfully stopping his vehicle and taking him into custody.
Crawford was transported to the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office and also faces multiple charges in Pickens County, including:
Felony Fleeing & Attempting to Elude
Drug Possession
Numerous Traffic Offenses

EARLIER STORY. POSTED WEDNESDAY: A man who was wanted in connection with a shooting in Lumpkin County is now in custody. William “Randall” Crawford, 44, was arrested in Pickens County, according to the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) but details surrounding his arrest were not immediately available. A lookout for Crawford had been issued by the sheriff’s office a few days ago, including a description of the vehicle he was believed driving. The lookout said he was last seen leaving the Mountain Brook Circle/Mill Cove Road area and was possibly armed.
