Another Hall Co. case of DUI, fleeing/attempting to elude; Banks Co. DUI conviction now includes unusual sentence

*A weekend arrest by a Hall County sheriff’s deputy led to charges that include DUI and fleeing/attempting to elude. The traffic stop was made on Athens Highway near Monroe Drive about 8:30 Saturday night. The deputy says he stopped the car after he noticed it was changing lanes and it headed northbound on Athens Highway but not before the driver refused to stop, striking a curb in the process. Kimberly Dawn Minor, 51, was charged with DUI-drugs, failure to maintain lane, brake light violation and fleeing/attempting to elude.

*In Banks County, meanwhile, staring the first of the month, Probate Court is requiring people convicted of DUI or reckless driving to provide an approved, new car seat in its original box as part of their sentence. This new measure is designed to address a growing need for child safety seats, Judge Cameron Boswell said.  “There’s a need for it, and we found a way to provide the need without burdening our taxpayers.” The sheriff’s office will help by providing technical feedback on the car seats and handling their distribution.
