MONDAY 11:00 P.M. UPDATE:
The man and woman who were shot on Gainesville’s southside early Monday, the man fatally, apparently knew each other, according to a spokeswoman for the Gainesville Police Department. But Lt. Jessica Vann tells WSB-TV their exact relationship was not known early on in the investigation.
Lt. Kevin Holbrook said late Monday afternoon that there was “nothing new at this time” when asked about the identification of the victims, a possible motive, and any possible suspect.
The shooting occurred outside a convenience store, according to Lt. Vann, who said detectives are looking for surveillance tape that might be helpful in their investigation and police are also canvassing some of the homeless camps in the area.
Athens Street was closed most of the morning following the 4:30 incident.
MONDAY 12:30 P.M. UPDATE:
The road at the scene of this morning’s shooting has reopened.
