Nightly southbound lane closures and a detour will occur on Georgia 400 at Browns Bridge Road (Exit 18) in Forsyth County next week from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday-Wednesday. This is being done to enable the removal of beams as part of the planned overpass repair, weather permitting.
“The detour will direct southbound drivers to exit SR 400 at Settingdown Road and re-enter at the Exit 18 on-ramp,” county spokeswoman Elizabeth Odom said.
“The detour route is approximately 3.3 miles from the intersection of Settingdown/SR 400 to the end of the SR 400 southbound on-ramp measured along the detour route,” Odom added. “The ‘normal’ distance straight down SR 400 southbound without the detour is approximately 1.9 miles. The detour route will take slightly longer due to slower speed limits and multiple turns but is relatively short.”
Meanwhile, a public town hall and open house meeting will be held Feb. 3 to provide Forsyth County residents the opportunity to learn more and ask questions related to the project.
