More housing projects on the drawing board in Gville

Two proposed housing developments are on the agenda for the Feb. 11 meeting of the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board (GPAB).

Kelly Intown Properties wants just over an acre of land on at Oak Tree Drive and Riverside Driver rezoned from Residential-1 to Residential-2 so that eight condominiums can be built there.

And Phil Devries is asking the board to rezone 2.3 acres at Atlanta Highway and Ray Street from Light-Industrial to Residential-2 to clear the way for the construction of 15 rental cottages.

The planners are expected to hear both requests Feb. 11.

He is the recipient of many Associated Press awards and is a former judge of state and national Associated Press broadcast news contests. In 2005, he was presented with the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s President’s Award for Excellence in Journalism and in 2019 was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.

He lives in Gainesville with his wife of 52 years, the former Sandra McKnight of Clio, Alabama, and they have one child, a daughter, Lisa, who lives in Cumming with her family.
