Series of events ends with Gville man jailed on several charges including DUI, hit-and-run

There were no serious injuries in chain of events in the East Hall area Tuesday afternoon that resulted in a number of charges, including DUI and hit-and-run.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“(About 4:00), a white Dodge pickup and a blue Toyota SUV were traveling north on White Sulphur Rd.  The pickup truck was driven by 21-year-old Elvis Hernandez-Toledo. 

The investigation revealed that Hernandez-Toledo struck the SUV, driven by Carlos Cardona Barriga, several times and passed it in a no passing zone.  Hernandez-Toledo fled the crash scene and continued north on White Sulphur Rd., before turning onto a private driveway and striking a fence.  He then traveled back onto White Sulphur Rd. and continued south only to lose control of the vehicle, traveling off the road, striking a ditch and overturning.  Troopers say Hernandez-Toledo was under the influence at the time.

He was taken t the Hall County Jail and was freed Wednesday on bonds totaling $13,090. He’s charged with:

*FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY

* DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

*PASSING IN A NO PASSING ZONE

*HIT -AND-RUN

*LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT

*AGGRESSIVE DRIVING

*FAILURE TO MAINTAIN LANE

Two injuries were reported in the chain of events, but their severity was not available Wednesday. A juvenile was in the SUV with Barriga.
