Bone-chilling cold to continue

As the snow and ice dumped on north Georgia last Friday gradually melts, the unseasonably cold temperatures that accompanied the winter storm are expected to be around for most of this week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says lows will remain in the 20s and highs in the 40s through Thursday when rain and more normal temperatures return to the Gainesville area.

And there is talk in some meteorological circles of another round of bitter cold moving into Georgia next Monday, the 20th, and maybe even another round of freezing precipitation, but most experts agree that it’s too early to be offering any definite predictions.
