Drugs, evidence of drugs found in Hall Co. Jail, two inmates charged

Drugs and evidence of drugs have been found in separate incidents in the Hall County Jail this week and, as a result, drug-related charges have been filed against two inmates.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Clyde Edward Jones IV (pictured), 39, of Gainesville, was charged with possession of a synthetic narcotic (cannabinoid) and going inside a guardline with drugs, both felony offenses, after synthetic marijuana was discovered in a hole in the mattress of his cell bunk. The substance was in two baggies that had been stuffed into the mattress. Jail officers made the discovery the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Later that same night, jail officers were conducting security checks and observed abnormal behavior from inmates in one of the cells. They conducted a search of the cell and discovered some rolled up toilet paper hidden on a window sill of the cell. The paper tested positive for oxycodone. Michael Ricardo Potter, 29, of Carrollton, was charged with possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to distribute and going inside a guardline with drugs, both felony offenses.

An investigation is underway to determine how the illegal drugs made their way into the jail facility.”
