A Gainesville man says he was robbed at gunpoint by an individual he met online who said he was interested in an Xbox the victim had for sale.
The 24-year-old victim told Gainesville Police they met Friday night on Pine Cove Circle to complete the transaction, but, as police spokesman Kevin Holbrook said Tuesday the “subject allegedly pulled a gun and took the Xbox, left on foot.”
The Xbox was valued at $550, according to the police report.
Earlier this year police announced they had set up a Trade Safe Spot at the public safety building on Queen City Parkway which is designed just for such meetings and is “well lit” and under video surveillance. EARLIER STORY. POSTED JAN. 6: GPD: Safe Trade Spot
