Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Habersham recently received accreditation in Pain and Addiction Care in the Emergency Department (PACED) by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). That means Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) is the first health system in the state to have five hospitals providing that recognized level of care.
“Our priority is to ensure patients receive compassionate, timely care during their most difficult moments, and this accreditation is validation that we’re setting the standard,” said Angela Gary, MSN, executive director of Trauma and Emergency Services for all NGMC hospitals and chief nursing officer of NGMC Braselton. “We all appreciate our emergency nurses, physicians and staff bringing their best every day.”
PACED accreditation recognizes emergency departments with a comprehensive program to provide optimal care for patients suffering from pain and/or addiction using progressive treatment protocols, training and resources.
“It means so much to see our team recognized for the way they care for patients,” said Beth Hester, RN, nurse manager at NGMC Habersham’s emergency department. “I’m constantly inspired by their kindness and dedication to making sure every patient feels cared for and supported when they need it most.”
