GMRC honors Gville’s Lackey; A ‘first in the world’ for Gville hospital

*Gainesville City Manager Bryan Lackey (pictured) was named the 2024 Appointed Official of the Year recently by the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC) at its annual meeting. Chosen annually by GMRC senior management staff, award recipients are individuals who have “demonstrated leadership, support and vision for GMRC.”

*Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville recently became the first hospitals in the world to offer a groundbreaking clinical trial focused on liver cancer. It is already one of only 25 sites worldwide, and the only place in Georgia and most of the Southeast, offering an “innovative” form of liver cancer treatment called histotripsy.
