HCSO: Gwinnett man’s action prompts school lockdown

A Dacula man who prompted a lockdown at a Hall County school Thursday
morning has been arrested by Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators.

The incident unfolded around 8:45 when an unknown adult man, later identified as
Jhourdan Gibbs, 23, attempted to enter the front door of Friendship Elementary. He first pulled on the door handle and then signaled for assistance via the outside
intercom, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams.

“Mr. Gibbs told a front office employee who answered the intercom he wanted to
come inside to use the restroom,” Williams said. “When the employee refused, Mr. Gibbs went to other
exterior doors in an apparent attempt to enter the school building.”

School employees immediately contacted law enforcement as the school was placed on an
external lockdown. Gibbs quickly left the school property in his vehicle.

With the assistance of camera footage from the school, HCSO investigators were able to
track Mr. Gibbs to his residence in Dacula,” according to Williams. “After questioning Mr. Gibbs, investigators placed him under arrest on charges of criminal trespass, loitering at a public school and disruption of a public school, all misdemeanor offenses.”
