Ga. 28th ‘most charitable state’; Ga. Access update; Holiday traffic fatalities; House egging murder

*Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to helping charities and those in need and WalletHub determined which states were labeled most charitable. Wyoming ranks at the top, followed by Utah. The study compared the 50 states across 17 key indicators including the volunteer rate, the share of income donated, and the number of food banks per capita to determine the list. Georgia ranked towards the middle at 28th. The latest World Giving Index shows that the United States is the sixth-most generous country in the world. Women are also responsible for 64% of all charitable donations in America.  

*The state is working to overcome any barriers online for those enrolling in Georgia Access. It’s the program that is taking place of the nationwide Affordable Care Act for the Peach State. The AJC reports 62,000 people had enrolled as of November 1 through the new GeorgiaAccess.gov website. The federal Affordable Care Act website transferred all policyholders over to the Georgia program.  
 
*The number of deaths in Georgia crashes during the Thanksgiving period is down this year. The Department of Public Safety reported 17 between Wednesday evening and Sunday night, compared to 23 last year.

*A woman is heading to prison for a Spalding County murder that was initially intended to be a house egging. Sydney Maughon was 18 years old when she shot and killed Tyler Gilbert on Dobbins Mill Road in Griffin in what was considered to be a lover’s quarrel.
