#2 nationwide in immigrant growth; Egg recall; Ga. Power rate hike?

*The surge of immigrants in Georgia was among the highest in the nation in 2023. A Census Bureau Survey revealed the Peach State ranked second overall. Numbers climbed above one-million, or more than eleven percent of the state overall. Close to half of the immigrants from 2023 were from Latin America.  

*Some eggs sold at Georgia Costco locations are being recalled. The items in question are Kirkland’s 24-count of organic eggs. The cartons are with Julian code 327 and a use-by date January 6th. Salmonella could be an issue with the product.  

*Millions of Georgians faced power outages after Hurricane Helene caused $1.1 billion dollars in damage to Georgia Power’s facilities – and could lead to an increase in rates. WTOK reports customers may see bill increases to cover the restoration costs after the storms damaged the infrastructure. Georgia Power has not confirmed if they plan to raise rates due to the storm damage. The next scheduled rate case is next year.
