Gainesville announces Thanksgiving closings, etc.

If you have in-person business with the City of Gainesville this week you have only three days to take care of it. City employees will be observing the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday and Friday, resulting in unavailability of the following facilities and services:

All administrative offices, including those at the:

  • Gainesville Administration Building
  • Gainesville Community and Economic Development Building
  • Gainesville Public Safety Complex (Gainesville Police Department + Gainesville Fire Department)
  • Gainesville Water Resources Building (Queen City Parkway)
  • Gainesville Civic Center (Gainesville Parks & Recreation), etc. (Frances Meadows Aquatics & Fitness Center will be closed)

Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center, including:

  • Meals on Wheels
  • Senior Life Center
  • Fingerprinting services

Transportation, including:

  • WeGo

Garbage and recycling

  • No garbage or recycling will be picked up Thursday, Nov. 28, therefore customers should put their garbage and recycling curbside by no later than 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, for early collection.

Leaf collection

  • Curbside leaf collection service will be unavailable Thursday, Nov. 28-Friday, Nov. 29. Zone 1 will be serviced Monday, Nov. 18-Friday, Nov. 22. The city will return to business-as-usual Monday, Dec. 2.
