(UPDATE 10:00 A.M. – STORM MAKES LANDFALL NEAR KEATON BEACH, FLA.)
Northeast Georgia can expect little impact from Hurricane Idalia which is expected to move into Georgia later today as a tropical storm.
Top winds in our area are expected be around 20 mph with rainfall totals around a quarter-of-an-inch, though a few mountain counties just to the northwest of Gainesville are under a Flash Flood Watch.
Strong storms did pound parts of north Georgia last night resulting in a Flood Warning for several counties, including Forsyth, but those have now expired. Total rainfall during the evening at the Gainesville airport was 1.87 inches.
