Serious injury in early morning chain-reaction crash

A 17-year-old from Gainesville, Carmelo Byrd, was seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash on Candler Road at Fullenwider Road early Monday. The state patrol says the chain-reaction accident happened about 6:45 when Byrd’s car crossed the centerline into the path of oncoming traffic.

According to the report, his car hit a pickup driven by a 32-year-old Dawsonville man, Kevin Sinder, head-on, pushing it into the front of another vehicle, occupied by 27-year-old Nashaidra Frame and two children – ages 8 and 3. Also struck was a fourth vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old Dahlonega man, Christopher Biggers.

In addition to Byrd, Sinder was injured but not seriously and was treated at the scene.
