Chief Chris Armstrong’s resignation is effective tomorrow; Deputy Chief Tim Woodard’s was effective today.
No reason was given for either resignation in the news release announcing the action. Armstrong (pictured) has been chief for five years. Prior to coming to Gainesville, he served as fire chief in Littleton, Colorado.
“Chris brought a wealth of knowledge, experience and many innovative ideas to life during his tenure with Hall County,” County Administrator Zach Propes said. “He has served the county well and has the utmost respect of the Hall County Board of Commissioners and County Administration, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Jerry Smith, a 30-year veteran of the department, has been named Interim Chief. Bryan Cash has been named Interim Deputy Chief. He’s been with the department 29 years.
