Noting that since temperatures have begun to drop, Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) has responded to a number of fires, the agency is out with a couple of pointers it hopes will help ensure your safety and help protect your property.
Number one: Make sure you have working smoke alarms in your home and that they are “properly” placed. Click here for more on the placement of smoke detectors: Installing and maintaining smoke alarms – NFPA
As always, fire prevention professionals say a good time to change the batteries in smoke detectors is when we switch from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time and vice-versa. And the switch to Standard Time is coming up next Sunday.
Also, HCFR reminds us that now that “burn season” is open again and the leaves are beginning to fall, be sure to follow the burning guidelines and hallcounty.org if your plans call for debris or any kind or leaves on your property.
