First-time filings for unemployment insurance in Hall County last month were down 12.4% compared to last September but up 22.8% from a year ago.
In the 13-county Georgia Mountains Region, which includes Hall County, the number was down 10.7% month-to-month and up 14.9% compared to September 2023.
Statewide, applications decreased 15.5% compared to last month and 6.5% over last September.
The number of unemployed was up by 3,016 to 195,601, the highest level since July 2021, and was up by 23,252 over the past 12 months.
