Federal $$$ headed to White Co., Cleveland for two projects

White County commissioners have agreed to accept a federal grant that will be used to purchase emergency notification equipment.

WRWH reports the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant will pay 90 percent of the cost of the equipment with the state and White County paying the rest.

Meanwhile, Cleveland has been awarded another one million dollars from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment plant. Other federal sources will provide $18 million. The city’s share of the $21.3 million project will be $2.2 million.
