Apalachee football team’s 1st home game since shooting

The Apalachee High School football team played its first home game since last month’s shooting at the school that left four people dead and nine wounded. And the opponent for the game showed its support for the Wildcats both at school Friday and during warmups prior to the kickoff.

In lieu of wearing their game uniforms to school Friday, the Jackson County High School Panthers instead showed support to their on-field opponent with Apalachee Strong t-shirts.

“Tonight’s game was bigger than a score,” the Jackson County School District posted on its Facebook page Friday. “It was about restoring the sense of community high school athletics provides, and the JCHS football team is proud to have shown its support to the AHS community.”

But there was a final score, of course.
