If your weekend plans include a trip down I-85 into or through Atlanta, you might want to look for another route.
Georgia DOT plans closures of the collector-distributor (CD) lanes on the Interstate. Those are the extra lanes that connect the main freeway to frontage roads and entrance ramps.
GDOT ADVISORY:
“Nightly Left Lane Closures Scheduled October 4 – 7
Paving Collector/Distributor Lanes
WHAT: Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) and contractor C.W Matthews will close the CD (Collector/Distributor) Lanes for I-85 southbound to pave beginning at SR 120 (Duluth HWY) to Pleasant Hill Rd.
WHEN: The lane closures will occur on Friday evening, Oct. 4, 2024 through Monday, Oct. 7, 2024 beginning at 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. weather permitting.
*Paving could be finished as early as Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, depending on equipment.
WHERE: This operation will impact both southbound traffic on I-85.
Detour will be Breckinridge Blvd or Satellite Blvd depending on direction of travel.”
