Applications for unemployment insurance

First-time filings for unemployment insurance in Hall County last month were down 15.6% compared to last August but up 30.4% from a year ago.

In the 13-county Georgia Mountains Region, which includes Hall County, the number was down 2.3% month-to-month and up 31.4% compared to August 2023.

Statewide, applications decreased 14.9% compared to last month and 8.2% over last August. The number of unemployed was up by 6,963 to 192,612, the highest level since July 2021, and was up by 20,454 over the past 12 months.
