UPDATE: Young Harris manhunt ends

6:30 P.M. UPDATE: The murder suspect who was the object of a manhunt in Young Harris Wednesday is in custody. No details on his capture but authorities say he was found in a dorm at Young Harris College.

EARLIER STORY . POSTED 7:15 A.M. WEDNESDAY:

A manhunt is underway in Towns County for a murder suspect whose car was found abandoned Tuesday near the Young Harris College campus. The Towns County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) says the vehicle is wanted in connection to a homicide in DeKalb County.

“The vehicle was unoccupied, and an investigation revealed the vehicle was abandoned between 11:30am and 1:30 pm.

The murder suspect is identified as 17-year-old Anthony Freeman, a black male approximately 5’ 3” tall and weighing 130 pounds with long dreadlocks. Freeman is wanted for murder and theft of a motor vehicle.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any contact with this subject, use extreme caution and call 911.

Towns County Sheriff’s Office along with Young Harris College Police will be patrolling heavily with extra patrols in the Young Harris area.”
