The state patrol Wednesday identified the man killed in that ATV accident in Lumpkin County over the weekend as Ricky Escobar, 25, Social Circle. Four other people suffered minor injuries.
UPDATE #1. POSTED MONDAY AFTERNOON:
The state patrol Monday afternoon released a preliminary report on the fatal accident that occurred Saturday at an off-the-road resort in Lumpkin County.
GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:
“On August 17, 2024 at 4:22pm, Troopers responded to a single vehicle collision located on the property of Iron Mountain Resort in Lumpkin County, Georgia.
Upon arriving on scene, Troopers determined that an SXS side by side occupied by multiple occupants was doing donuts when the side by side began to overturn. As the vehicle overturned, an occupant was ejected and crushed under the vehicle. The occupant was deceased on scene.

Shortly after, the driver fled the area. The driver was identified by witnesses on scene and located a short time later at Iron Mountain Resort.
The driver was taken into custody and turned into the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.
