First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Hall County were up in July compared to June as well as a year ago, according to the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL).
The increases were 25.6% and 11.3% percent respectively.
Statewide, there was 24.7% increase compared to June but a 13.2% percent decrease over July a year ago.
In the 13-county Georgia Mountains Region, which includes Hall and most other counties in northeast Georgia, the number of applications in July was unchanged from June but was up 12 percent compared to July 2023.
