Bicyclist injured in McEver Road accident

A bicycle rider was injured early Friday morning when his bike was hit by a car on McEver Road near Donna Way.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“On August 16, 2024, at approximately 6:26 a.m., a Post 6  Trooper responded to a crash on McEver Rd. and Donna Way in Hall County. 

A 2012 Savana Cutaway driven by Timothy Story, a 29-year-old from Gainesville, was traveling north on McEver Rd. in the right lane. A bicyclist, Jesus M. Rodriguez Martinez, a 29-year-old from Gainesville, was traveling north on McEver Rd. on the right shoulder.

Mr. Story did not give the bicyclist three feet of clearance (see below), as he was passing the bicyclist. The Savana Cutaway struck the bicyclist with its right side.

The bicyclist then traveled off the shoulder and came to a final rest off the roadway.  Mr. Martinez had visible injuries.”
