A 37-year-old Lula man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when he was hit by a pickup in Habersham County.
The state patrol’s Courtney Floyd says it happened on a highway near Clarkesville.
“(The pickup) was traveling south on Georgia 197 in the southbound lane,” Floyd said. “A pedestrian was traveling south on the right shoulder of (the highway). The pedestrian darted in front of the Toyota Tacoma and the front passenger side of the vehicle struck the pedestrian.”
Floyd added that the pedestrian, Stephen Mizell, was flown to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville “with serious injuries.”

The accident happened about 1:00.
