A South Hall man remained in the Hall County Jail Monday afternoon after his arrest on nearly a dozen charges following a chase and resulting accident.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
The incident happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.
“…A Hall County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit (clocked) a northbound SUV at approximately 125 mph on Interstate 985 at Exit 8/Friendship Road. The deputy attempted to catch up with the driver, who turned his headlights and taillights off.
The suspect driver exited the interstate onto Exit 12/Spout Springs Road, turned left on Hog Mountain Road and then right onto Cash Road. The driver then lost control and wrecked the SUV in the curve. The driver ran from the accident on foot, while deputies detained the two passengers.
A Flowery Branch Police Department K9 Team tracked down the driver and detained him just minutes later.
Following the initial investigation, deputies arrested and charged the driver, Andrew Tony Santoscoy, 18, of Oakwood with the following offenses:
- DUI marijuana
- Possession of THC oil (felony)
- Fleeing/attempting to elude (felony)
- Reckless driving – first offense
- Speeding
- Failure to maintain lane
- Headlights and other lights required
- No registration
- No proof of minimum insurance
- Class D. License – operating motor vehicle after 12 a.m.
There were no reports of injuries, and deputies released the SUV passengers, who do not face charges. Santoscoy is being held on $9,750 bond.”
