Columbus Police: Ticket or gift card?

(FROM GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK) -A new initiative in Columbus hopes to help drivers pay for vehicle repairs and avoid traffic tickets.

Police Sgt. Angela Florence says the program means if an officer spots a vehicle with a broken headlight or other equipment issue, they have the option to give the driver a $25 gift card instead of a ticket.

Advanced Auto Parts General Manager Sandra Taylor tells WTVM the “Advancing Our Roads” program is part of its grand opening of the store in Midland.
