The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said Saturday eight people, four of them students, were injured in Friday’s school bus-SUV accident on Barrett Road. All of the injuries were minor.

GSP NARRATIVE:

“…Troopers from Post 6-Gainesville responded to a two-vehicle crash on Barrett Rd, in the area of Dorsey Peek Rd.

The investigation determined a Jeep Compass Sport was traveling west on Barrett Rd, negotiating a curve. A Hall County School Bus was stopped on Barrett Rd with its stop sign and red lights activated, facing east.

The driver of the Jeep, attempted to stop for the school bus in the road and traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a mailbox.  The Jeep then traveled back onto the roadway and struck the left side of the school bus with the front of the Jeep. Both vehicles received disabling damage.

The driver and two passengers in the Jeep received minor injuries from the crash. The bus driver and four juveniles received minor injuries.

The Jeep driver was cited for failure to maintain lane and failure to stop for school bus loading or unloading.”
