Battle of the concerts this week; $2K+ donation to food bank; Gville intersection closing; N. Hall wreck

*It’ll be the battle of the concerts in downtown Gainesville Wednesday night. The city’s first Hot Summer Nights Concert begin on the square at 6:00. Then at 8:00, just a couple of blocks away, it’s the annual Patriotic Pops Concert featuring the Northwinds Symphonic Band. That takes place on the lawn at the Smithgall Arts Center.

*When the Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB) brought its 90th anniversary Road Show to Gainesville last week, it not only honored 97.5 Glory FM’s Mike Wofford with its Spirit Award Broadcasters’ group stops in Gainesville; honors GLORY’S Wofford (wgtjradio.com) but also presented a $2,500 check to the Gainesville-based Georgia Mountains Food Bank.

*A Gainesville intersection will be closed all day Monday for water line work. The Gainesville Water Resources Department says Banks Street at Queen City Parkway will be closed 8:00-5:00.

*A wreck about midnight closed the intersection of Jim Hood Road and Highland Road for a time. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says one vehicle was involved. So far, no word on what happened and if there were any injuries.
