A referendum on a Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) is a step closer to getting on the November General Election ballot in Hall County.
“(Thursday) afternoon, Hall County hosted a Special Called meeting for the municipalities and the Board of Commissioners to sign the 2024 Transportation SPLOST Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA),” county spokesman Sarah Crowe wrote in an email Friday. “This agreement, once signed by all of the municipalities, will determine how funding will be allocated and what transformational transportation projects will take place should the TSPLOST pass.”
The cities of Buford, Flowery Branch, Gainesville, Lula, Oakwood, Rest Haven, and the towns of Braselton and Clermont were present at the meeting.
Crowe added the resolution for the referendum will be on the agenda for the July 11 commission meeting. “That vote will determine if the Transportation SPLOST will be on the November 5 ballot for Hall County citizens to vote on.”
