UNG’s president getting raise

University of North Georgia (UNG) President Mike Shannon is getting a bump in salary effective July 1 that will bring his annual earnings to $319,800.

However, he, along with most other University of Georgia System (UGS) college and university presidents will get an “allowance” of $43,200 which will bring his total compensation to $360,200. That’s in line with most of his peers except the presidents of Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, and Georgia State who will each earn around a million a year in total compensation.

Shannon has been UNG president since last July when he succeeded Dr. Bonita Jacobs, who retired after ten years on the job.
